How long is FoodSafe valid for in BC?

FoodSafe certification in British Columbia is valid for five years. After this time period, individuals must take a Food Safe Level 1 or Level 2 course and exam again to maintain their certification.

How many levels are in FoodSafe?

In British Columbia, there are two levels of Food Safe certification: Level 1 and Level 2. Food Safe Level 1 is an introductory course that covers basic food safety principles, while Food Safe Level 2 is a more advanced course that covers topics such as Managing for Food Safety, foodborne illness prevention, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) systems, and food safety regulations.

Where can I work with a FoodSafe certification in BC?

A Food Safe certification is often a requirement for anyone who handles food in a commercial setting in British Columbia. This includes workers in restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, and other food-related businesses. Having a Food Safe certification can also be beneficial for those who work in other industries, such as healthcare or education, where food safety is important. It’s important to note that the specific requirements for food safety certification can vary depending on the employer and the position.

How long will take to receive my certificate?

ProSafe will provide you a temporary certificate immediately following the class and confirmation of your passing of the exam. Fraser Health issues the official FoodSafe certificate and they can take up to 90 days to issue it.
