About the course:
WorkSafeBC has recently announced a new way to renew your Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate – a 3.5 hour OFA Level 1 Recertification course.
Students will receive a brief review on the theory of first aid, but the majority of the session will focus on refreshing the hands-on life-saving skills such as the Priority Action Approach, CPR/AED, choking, and major bleeding.
Candidates must successfully complete all skills and score a minimum of 70% on a written evaluation to achieve certification.
ProSafe First Aid will offer the new Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 Recertification course on a variety of days and times to meet the scheduling needs of our busy students. This includes weekdays, weekends, and evening classes. And it will be offered at our Surrey, Abbotsford, and Richmond campuses, as well as for private groups at your location.

To renew an Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 certification in BC, you have two options; 1) take a full 8-hour program again, or 2) complete a 4-hour recertification course before your current certification expires. The recertification course involves attending a shorter training course, passing a written exam, and demonstrating practical competency in first aid skills such as CPR and choking response.
The Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 1 certification in Canada is typically valid for a period of three years. After this period, you will need to renew your certification by completing a full 8-hour course again.
