Canadian Red Cross Emergency First Aid (EFA): Learn Basic Medical Emergency Procedures

Taking the proper actions without delay can help the situation from escalating and may even save someone’s life. Knowing how to respond when an adult, child or infant is suffering medical distress is a critical skill that everyone should learn.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]The EFA course takes less time to complete than our Standard First Aid course, however you will still learn all the basics of what to do in an emergency. As this is an introductory course, no previous training in first aid is required for this 8 hour (one day) session.

As of September 1, 2018, Red Cross Emergency First Aid is considered equivalent to Occupational First Aid Level 1 for workplace occupational first aid attendants under the Health and Safety Regulations.  Some of the added benefits of taking a Red Cross EFA course are:

  • Certification is transferable between provinces and recognized nationally for workplace requirements.
  •  Successful participants are issued three-year certification in EFA and CPR with recertification options (no need to take the full course over).  OFA Level 1 requires candidates to take the entire course again every three years.
  • OFA Level 1 only offers Level A CPR (adult only), whereas Red Cross EFA typically includes Level C CPR (adult, child and infant).
