Canadian Red Cross CPR/AED Course: A Closer Look

Having someone nearby who knows how to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) may mean the difference between life and death. CPR is a valuable skill for everyone.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]Students who register for either our standard first aid course or our emergency first aid course, will also receive training in CPR. However, some students may wish to take an independent course on CPR – either because they wish a refresher, or because they wish to take a different level of CPR than the one that they originally learned.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]ProSafe First Aid Training School offers four levels of CPR courses (Level A, Level B, Level C and Level HCP). This is the most basic of our CPR courses, however you will still learn the necessary skills to save a life in an emergency situation. The course is intended for individuals in the workplace as well as the general public.

Level A will cover:

Adult CPR with one rescuer
Adult choking
The proper use of barrier devices and pocket masks
AED (Automated External Defibrillation) where legislation permits

Level C will cover:

Adult, child and infant CPR with one rescuer
Adult, child and infant choking
The proper use of barrier devices and pocket masks
AED (Automated External Defibrillation) where legislation permits
Rescue breathing may be taught at Level C
Adult and child CPR with two rescuers (30:2 ratio only)[/ultimate_info_table][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][ultimate_info_table design_style=”design06″ color_scheme=”custom” color_bg_main=”#ffffff” color_txt_main=”#333333″ color_bg_highlight=”#2991d6″ color_txt_highlight=”#ffffff” package_heading=”CPR Level B” icon_type=”selector” icon=”Defaults-stethoscope” icon_size=”32″ icon_color=”#ffffff” icon_style=”circle” icon_color_bg=”#e52626″ features_min_ht=”480″ heading_font_size=”24″]Level B is a five hour course and covers all the material of Level A as well as techniques that can be used on children and infants. This course is recommended for families, parents, child care workers as well as for the general public.

Level B will cover:

Adult, child and infant CPR with one rescuer
Adult, child and infant choking
The proper use of barrier devices and pocket masks
AED (Automated External Defibrillation) where legislation permits

Rescue breathing will not be taught at level B[/ultimate_info_table][ultimate_info_table design_style=”design06″ color_scheme=”custom” color_bg_main=”#ffffff” color_txt_main=”#333333″ color_bg_highlight=”#2991d6″ color_txt_highlight=”#ffffff” package_heading=”CPR Level HCP” icon_type=”selector” icon=”Defaults-ambulance” icon_size=”32″ icon_color=”#ffffff” icon_style=”circle” icon_color_bg=”#e52626″ features_min_ht=”500″ heading_font_size=”24″]Level HCP is a six hour course and it the most comprehensive of the four levels as it is designed for health care providers including doctors, nurses, paramedics as well as allied health providers such as RT, OT and PT.

Level HCP will cover:

Adult, child and infant CPR with one rescuer
Adult, child and infant choking
The proper use of barrier devices and pocket masks
AED (Automated External Defibrillation) where legislation permits
Rescue breathing may be taught at Level HCP
Adult and child CPR with two rescuers (30:2 ratio – adult and 15:2 ratio – child and baby)

BVM (bag valve mask)
