Lane-Closure Technician (LCT)

The LCT course was developed to provide Traffic Control Persons (TCPs) with the additional skills to create informal traffic control plans and review and modify formal traffic management plans; set up traffic control devices in accordance with the traffic plan and regulations; further understand the regulations and guidelines put in place by WorkSafe BC and the Ministry of Transportation; and focus on planning, setting up, and removing physical work zones and traffic control devices. [/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”custom” border_width=”4″ accent_color=”#183964″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Course Content:

• Roles & responsibilities of a Field Lane Technician & Supervisor

• Regulations & standards, including those set out by the Ministry of Transportation, WorkSafe BC & the Motor Vehicle Act

• Traffic control equipment & devices

• Setting up, maintaining & removing work zones

• Basic and advanced traffic control and management skills

Course Length:

This is a 1-day (8 hour) program (including breaks). [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Prerequisites:

Recommended (but not required):

• At least 18 years of age

• Valid drivers license

• Have knowledge of traffic control, such as working around traffic

• TCP/Flagging Certification recommended but not required

• Pen & highlighter

Certification:

Participants must achieve a minimum of 75% on the written exam be certified. There is no option for a re-write.
